Since starting with PATHS, I have experienced many new obstacles and some fairly old. At first, when I called Erica Hill, I had no clue what I was agreeing to! LORD knows I was in for a rude awakening, at least my comfort zone was. I specifically use the word ‘rude’ precisely because I was stuck in my idle stance of un-productivity and was looking for a way out yet hoping that I could stay. Much of a contradiction, I know. At first, I needed someone to watch over me and guide my path, and Erica was that hawk. I mean that in the most respectful way. I asked her to text me daily for a short period of time as I adjusted to the changes necessary for my success. She did just that and more! Words cannot describe how much of a blessing she has been for my son and me. For the moments I feel like giving up I first remember the various words of encouragement from the Bible, and the phrase “I showed up!” Thank you, Ms. Hill, for following your gift.

We met Ms. Erica over 4 years ago. She is a kind-hearted, sweet lady to me and my family. Ms. Erica helped my oldest son with getting prepared for the ACT test that he needed to have before he started his very first college years. She guided him to make the right choices for his college education which was a great blessing since he was our very first child to start college. Ms. Erica even inspired me to finish my High School Diploma and for me to start my college education as well. It was truly a honor and pleasure to meet her.

I've been with PATHS for over 6 months now and come in as a single mother of 4 and the founder of my own nonprofit. My experience in that time has been nothing but positive and I have every confidence that my experience will continue to be at least that throughout my time with PATHS. Erica knows her stuff because she's coming from a place of experience. The jewels of wisdom she bestows on us are the result of lessons she’s learned "the hard way." Our struggles were her struggles, our challenges were her challenges, and she is transparent about her experiences which is incredibly encouraging as it shows that there is hope and it is possible to achieve success even in light of where we are coming from as single parents. She's tough but compassionate. She has a gentle hand but allows no room for excuses. She extends grace but expects you to show up for yourself because nobody can do for you what you can, even with the best of intentions. She gives you the tools that should have been, but are all too often not, taught to us when we were younger; but she doesn't just give you the tools and send you on your merry way to figure them out for yourself, she takes the time to work with you so that you understand how and why they work and how to implement them so you have the very best chance for success. If you take the time, put in the effort, implement the tools and heed the lessons, and take full advantage of the genuine support made available to you there is no reason why you shouldn't achieve the success you strive for during your time with PATHS, and beyond. I wholeheartedly appreciate the opportunity to be a part of what PATHS has to offer, and am excited about my future successes as a result.
